When three generations of the Long family joined forces on a biosolids haul in Braham, Minnesota, in April, it wasn’t just another job—it was a perfect example of what makes working at PeopleService so unique.
For a time this spring, Jake Long, his stepdaughter Kadence Robinson, and his father, Joe Long, all worked across the northern Minnesota region. Kadence, who recently graduated from high school a semester early, is getting her first taste of the industry in Hinckley. Jake is based in Duluth, which serves as a hub for several PeopleService projects. And Joe, who wrapped up his time with the company on April 18, had been working out of Braham.
The three were photographed together in Braham after completing a two-day biosolids haul—an all-hands-on-deck effort that, in this case, kept it all in the family.
“I’ve never run into this before,” said Northern Minnesota Region Manager Paul Christensen, who’s been with PeopleService since 1992. “It really says something about working for us. We’re a company that brings people in—even those without any prior experience—and gives them the training and support to succeed. We do it every day.”
Jake, who returned to PeopleService nearly two years ago after previously spending seven years with the company, said the experience was one he won’t forget.
“It was pretty cool,” Jake said. “To have all three of us out there together—especially with Kadence just getting started—it felt like something special.”
Joe, a longtime truck driver, wrapped up his time with PeopleService on April 18, while Kadence is still deciding what comes next. For now, she’s learning the ropes and getting a hands-on introduction to a career path that just might run in the family.
