- The PeopleService Alan Meyer Memorial Scholarship covers tuition at an accredited community college or technical college in a Water Environment AAS Degree Program.
- The scholarship will be granted $1,500 each semester, $3,000 per year or $6,000 over the two-year period.
- We expect scholars to think of this as a long-term career. Therefore, we expect scholars to commit to at least two years of employment following graduation, and if not, the scholar must agree to reimburse the funds paid out on the scholar’s behalf. For every six months of continuous employment, $1,500 of the loan will be forgiven.
- Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates for a full-time position at PeopleService, Inc. but does not guarantee full-time employment.
- We operate in four major states: Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska and every effort will be applied to find full-time placement within the state of your choosing, but it may not be guaranteed.
- To become a full-time employee, you must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean record (no excessive moving violations in a 3-year period and/or no DUI violations in a 5-year period).
- To remain eligible for the scholarship, you must:
- Maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.5 – see following GPA policy.
- Follow the college’s attendance policy.
- Be in compliance with the school’s student code of conduct.
- Not be convicted of a felony while in the program.
Selection Criteria:
The PeopleService, Inc. Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate each application carefully and consider the following criteria:
- The quality and completeness of the application.
- The qualifications of the applicant.
- Content of the essay.
Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, creed, age, sex or national origin.
What happens if the above criteria are not met?
- Should you fail to complete the application requirements, your application will not proceed to the selection process.
- If you fall below the requirements of the training program or choose to discontinue the program, you will be required to reimburse PeopleService, Inc. what has been paid towards your tuition.

GPA POLICIES
We want you to understand our expectations and your options as a PeopleService, Inc. Alan Meyer Memorial Scholar.
It is our intention to give the PeopleService, Inc. Alan Meyer Memorial scholar every opportunity to remain in the program while still following the guidelines that are agreed upon when accepting the scholarship.
- If you should fail a class and your cumulative GPA does not fall below a 2.5, you may continue in the PeopleService, Inc. Scholarship Program. You will be required to repeat the course at your own expense in order to complete your degree.
- If you should fail a class and your cumulative GPA does not fall below a 2.5, but the class is a prerequisite to take the next semester’s classes, you may remain in the program and take the classes you are eligible for and then retake the course the next time it is offered. This is usually the next year and will be repeated at your own expense to complete the degree.
- If you should fail a class and your cumulative GPA does not fall below a 2.5, but the class is a prerequisite to take the next semester’s classes, and you do not want to wait until the next year to take the class, you have the choice to continue (#2 above) or drop out of the program and repay the scholarship fund the amount you have used thus far.
- If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.5, you will no longer be eligible for the Scholarship Program and will be required to repay the scholarship fund the amount you have used thus far.
